Death of C. B. Rouse. Mr. C. B. Rouse died at the home of his son near Minot, N. D., last Tuesday, June 2nd, aged 78 years, 2 months and sixteen days. Deceased until recently was a resident of Jackson Co. and a little over a year ago went with his wife to Minot, N. D., to assist their son Charles in opening up a farm. His health had been poorly for nearly six months. Another name is stricken from the ever lessening roll of our old settlers, and a solitary woman in the sunset of life, and a lonely home are left to attest how sadly they will miss him. Besides this devoted wife he leaves two sons and three daughters. Charles Bostwick Rouse was born March 14, 1830, in Van Rensaeller County, N.Y. He was a pioneer of Minnesota having come to this state in 1857. In May 1861 he enlisted for service in the Civil war in Company A, 2nd Minn. Reg., and after serving with the army of the Cumberland, being seriously injured three times, received his honorable discharge July 1864. In August the following year he married Maragret A. Orr and moved to Martin county. Five years later the family moved to Faribault county and in 1878 to Jackson county which has since been their home. The remains were brought to Lakefield for burial accompanied by his son William and daughter Elizabeth, and were laid to rest in the family lot in Lakefield cemetery. Submitted by Holly L Healey |
